Bliss No. 1K Semi-Automatic Water Tester.--A machine for testing round or square cans from 1 1/2 to 6 3/4 inches in diamter by 1 1/2 to 6 inches in length, or the equivalent. Adapted for sanitary cans. It may also be arranged for larger work. Some of the different style cans, for the testing of which it is used, are shown in the illustration. The output, which depends on the size of can and the expertness of the operator, is from 4,000 to 10,000 cans a day.
Bliss No.15K Automatic Round Can Water Tester.--This machine receives the cans from the end soldering machine, automatically clamps and charges them with compressed air and carries them through the testing tank. The cans during submersion remain close to the surface and leakers are readily detected and removed. The machine handles cans from 2 to 5 inches in diameter by 2 to 6 inches in height, and operates at the rate of 120 cans a minute. We build a large machine, No. 16K, for gallon cans.
Bliss No. 15 Automatic Double Seamer for oval, oblong, square and irregular shapes. It is provided with automatic movements which leaves the operator nothing to do but feed the can and depress the treadle. The machine does the rest. The chuck stops in the same position each time. The machine has positive top and bottom drive. Since the above illustration was made the machine has been slightly change.
Bliss No. 18 Automatic Double Seamer.--The operation of this machine, which is used for double seaming tops of filled cans, is entirely automatic. It is built to handle round, square, oval and oblong cans. In this machine the can stands perfectly still while being double seamed. The operator has only to place the filled cans with the tops on the feed table, where the jaws take the can and top, maingaining them in currect relation to each other. After double seaming, the can is carried away withoug futher manipulation on the part of the operator.
The machine has a capacity of 15 to 25 closures per minute, this varying according to the size and shape of the can to be double seamed. 3/4 sardine cans are handled at the rate of 20 per minute.
Bliss No.12 Automatic Double Seamer.--This machine will double seam round tins from 1 1/2 to 6 1/4 inches in diameter by 3/4 to 10 inches in height at the rate of 37 ends a minute. The operator need only place the can in position, depress the treadle, and the machine does the rest. It produces a tight and perfect seam and every seam is uniform because of an equal pressure.
Bliss No. 31K Automatic Double Seamer.--A machine of rigid construction which seams 35 to 45 ends a minute, the can standing still during double seaming. it is especially adapted for Nos. 1, 2 and 3 cans, and halves, flats and talls. Two seaming rolls are used for each operation, doing the work twice as fast as if done with one roll. The continuous chain feed delivers the can to the device for rounding and holding during double seaming. 'No spills.' The covers are fed automatically. The machine is proivded with positive top knockout.
Bliss No.253 Double End Flanging Machine.--This machine rapidly flanges both ends of can bodies (soldered or lock seamed) in preparation for double seaming tops and bottoms. A special patented device prevents the receding of the tail sotck during the operation, insuring univorm and even flanges. It will handle bodies 2 to 8 1/2 inches in diameter by 2 to 10 3/4 inches in height, and is easily adjusted for different sizes of cans.
Bliss No.15 Automatic Round Can Flanger.--An entirely automatic machine of the four chuck type, continuous in operation and positive in action. It produces a perfect and uniform flange. The movement of the chucks is comparatively slow and the bodies are flanged without danger of cracking the tin. It is arranged with automatic body feed and handles can bodies from 2 to 6 5/8 inches in diameter by 2 to 7 inches in height, at the rate of 100 to 150 a minute. The friction clutch with which it is provided gives instant control.
Bliss No.19 Press, Fitted with Patented Stagger Feed Gauge and Table and Arranged with Circular Scrap Cutters.--For cutting and stamping tops and bottoms. It reduces waste to a minimum and eliminates previous slitting of sheets. It automatically shears the scrap, giving the operator at all times solid material to handle. This allows of very rapid operation. These machines are also built with shear knife scrap cutters.
