| Notes | Note from unidentified source: This log cabin structure was built in the mid-1860s by John Utz, also known as Buckskin John. He, with his Indian wife Dorothy, occupied the cabin for some time after its erection. Another occupant, prior to the acquisition of the property as an American customs house in 1879, was Tenas (Little) Catherine, an Indian sister of Dorothy Utz.... The cabin was acquired for use as the first American customs house at Lake Osoyoos on or very near August 1879, and occupied by Jacob Stitzel, first deputy collector there. he was suceeded by Cullen B. Bash who took over the duties of deputy collector, August 7, 1881 and remained until August or September 1885...
