NotesOn verso of image: The John Nailor shake house on Skykomish Slough. Mr. Nailor was its first permanent settler in that locality. He was a civil engineer in employ of the government. Took up residence there 1880. Later the first postmaster. His home was a ""Wayside"" stop over for claim holders, both timber and mining. W.B. Stevens errected a shake hotel for Mr. Nailor (Mr. Stevens was at the time the carpenter). Later he sold it to Mr. Nailor who had been proprietor... The house in the picture was destroyed by fire along with a new home he had built after Carpenter's moved there... Left to right: Kittie Nailor, Ed Jaco, Wyman Warren, Mr. Nailor, Mr. McDavitt, Mr. Cobb from Silver City, Nason Kellogg. Picture taken on Skykomish Slough.
