North Mowich Glacier is on the northwest slope of Mount Rainier, between Russell and Edmunds glaciers in the northwest quarter of Mount Rainier National Park. Other names that have been used are Willis, Tyler, and North Puyallup. South Mowich Glacier is on the northwest slope of Mt. Rainier between the Edmunds and Puyallup Glaciers in the western region of Mount Rainier National Park. It drains into the South Mowich River. Mowich is a Chinook Jargon word for deer.
Crater Peak was the name given by Hazard Stevens and P. B. Van Trump in their successful 1870 ascent of the mountain to the highest point on the mountain which is now known as Columbia Crest.
