NotesCaption from album: Late in 1883 or early in 1884 John F. Stier homesteaded the southwest quarter of section 12, 22, 2. He built a story-and-a-half house of hewn cedar logs that is a marvelous piece of work, the logs as truly hewn as though sawed. the house was plastered, the lath being of split cedar and nailed to the logs diagonally.
