Handwritten on verso: Ulmus americana, American or White Elm, 'Great Grand Child' of George Washington Elm. This is a true cutting taken from the "Grand Child" before it was sent east to Cambridge, Mass. April 6, 1931. It stands now 14 ft. high. Ludwig Metzger. Seattle, Jan. 12, 1949; this picture was taken May, 1947. L.M.
