| Contextual Notes | Ward Cove is a village on the north shore of Ward Cove estuary at the southwest end of Revillagigdo Island, 4.5 miles northwest of Ketchikan. This village is an extension of the settlement area of Ketchikan. A slatery was established here in 1883-84 by W.W. Waud. In 1920, Eugene Wacker was first postmaster of the village, which was then called Wacker. The post office name was changed to Wards Cove in 1951 and then to Ward Cove in 1954.
