Impromptu parade in Puyallup, Washington, on November 11, 1918. Told that the Great War had ended, children gathered in small neighborhood groups to celebrate. The poster on the wagon reads: HURRAY! THE WAR IS OVER!! FATHER AND BROTHER ARE COMING HOME TO HELL WITH THE KAISER THAT'S WHERE HE BELONGS (Submitted by Victor B. Scheffer, b.1906, who stands in the third rank holding the smaller flag. Photo by his father, Theophilus Scheffer, b. 1867)

Digital Reproduction InformationAll images were scanned from original photographs using a Microtek Scanmaker 8700 scanner in 8-bit grayscale between 400 and 800 ppi. Using Adobe Photoshop 7.0, resized to 768 pixels wide or 600 pixels high (whichever was greater), adjusted the histogram, sharpened and saved in JPEG format at quality rating 3. 2005
