NotesThe Columbine Mine Massacre occurred on November 21, 1927 amidst the general Colorado Mine Strike of 1927-1928. 500 mine workers and their families were denied access into the town of Serene, Colorado near the Columbine Mine. Militia men and police used rifles and tear gas grenades to hold back the miners, who attempted to climb the gates into Serene. At least six people were killed and over sixty were injured.
