Contextual NotesThe Everett Massacre occurred on November 5, 1916. 300 Seattle IWW workers boarded two ships headed for Everett, where they planned to give a public demonstration. When the first ship arrived at the dock, 200 citizen deputies were waiting to stop the Wobblies from demonstrating. Shooting broke out between the two parties, leaving at least 5 Wobblies and 2 sheriffs dead, as well as 47 other participants wounded.
