Contextual NotesBon Odori is a traditional summer festival honoring ancestors who have passed on, remembering and appreciating all they have done while celebrating their ongoing presence in everyday life.

Also known as Obon, the festival is an official Seafair event. The main event is traditional music and dancing in the street in a giant oval. Many festival goers dress in Japanese kimonos or yukata.
