Contextual NotesThe creation of the Nisei Veterans Committee or NVC was a result of returning Japanese Americans wanting to form a Nisei veterans social club that was separate from the Japanese American Citizens League (JACL). On returning from World War II Nisei found that the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) barred membership to Japanese. As a result, the Seattle Nisei Veterans Committee (NVC) was formed on March 25, 1946 as a non-profit veterans organization.
