| Contextual Notes | The documentation of the Cle Elum Ranger Residence and Garage is provided by the Historic American Buildings Survey/Historic American Engineering Record (HABS/HAER) and was done at a time when the property owned by the USDA Forest Service was being offered for sale. The Cle Elum Ranger Residence was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in 1934, the same year the Cle Elum Ranger District was established; the associated garage was built two years later. The residence and garage were eligible for listing on the National Register because of their association with the Depression-era CCC and as an example of the distinctive Pacific Northwest rustic architecture associated with this period. Currently there is no listing in national or state historic building registers of these structures. It is not clear if the structures still exist or not. |
