On verso of image: 1898 (about March).Fort Bellamy was dining hall and kitchen. First building at colony, 1897. Photo early 1898 looking north. Later 1898 dining hall extended north and this became waiting room.

Located in Skagit County, south of Bellingham on Colony Creek, Equality was a Socialist colony founded in the 1890s by the Brotherhood of the Co-operative Commonwealth. It lasted until 1904.
