On verso of image: Cook house, Yestler Mill, built in 1853 of hewed logs. This cook house was the central gathering place of Seattle for some time. This was where the pioneers held their meetings - used as a court house. [A]s one librarian put it, it was wherethey ate, drank, laughed, sang, prayed, wept and slept. Building on left was built after the mill was running - There was[sic] always Indians around |
