On verso of image: Totem Pole and Pioneer Square. Pioneer Square in the heart of the retail business district of the city, contains many fine mercantile houses, hotels etc. In the triangle is the historic Indian Totem Pole, which was brought from Alaska. It belonged to one of the principal Tlinget families of the Raven tribe, and is wonderfully carved, representing incidents in the history and life of the family.
