Caption on image: Seattle at night. Second Avenue and the 42 story L. C. Smith Bldg.
On verso of image: The highest and finest and most representative office building in the world outside of New York City. The massive fireproof structure weighs 32, 650 tons, resting on 1276 concrete piles driven 50 feet into the earth. Adjoining the observatory in the tower is the famous Chinese Room finished in hand carved teak by native workmen and containing hundreds of tablets - replicas of those in historic Chinese temples, bronze lanterns and gorgeous, carved Oriental furniture. Thousands of sightseers visit the Chinese Room and observatory, from which a wonderful view is obtained of snow clad mountains, the sound, lakes and green forests. AT night 42 giant searchlights flood the entire peak with a blaze of silver white light, and surmounting all is the great electrically lighted ball, ten feet in diameter, serving as a becon for all the ships entering the Seattle harbor.
