TitleHotel Washington showing the one block electric trolley to the top of Denny Hill, ca. 1903
PhotographerUnknown
Dateca. 1903
NotesOn verso of image: Washington Hotel, Seattle's most pretentious hostelry, about 1903, was then located at about Fourth Avenue and Stewart Street, instead of Second Avenue and Stewart Street, location of the New Washington Hotel. This structure was razed and the new hotel built where hill was torn down in regrade work. The street in the foreground is Pine St., and the ""Toonerville Trolley"" was a counter-balance affair solely for the purpose of transporting passengers one block up the steep hill.
