On verso of image: Upper Woodland park looking south, 1891. Woodland Park prior to its acquisition by the City of Seattle in 1900. Lawn at Woodland Park looking south from the hotel which was near where the Harding Memorial now stands. Note several people in foreground with pyramids of stones at right and left. Note the date '89 on the slightly elevated pool with fountain in its center. Note the Lodge (sometimes called the 'gatehouse"") behind trees and near entrance to the park.
