NotesOn verso of image: Western Mill from old home at 1134 Republican St. showing [burner ?] where slabs from mill were dumped. Old Indian camp. Also field where [grandpa's ?] Jersey cows pastured. This photo was made in the late 1880's or early 1890's. This was made before they filled in on the right for the lumber yard. Street in the foreground had just been graded [three ?]. The West Lake bridge had not been built yet. When the Westlake bridge was built the conveyor was raised above the street. Note the old cedar rail fence in the foreground. Note that there are big trees still standing on what is now Capitol Hill.
