Notes
The
center
of the
medal
is
stamped
with a
depiction
of the
Temperance
Temple
, an
office
building
in the
center
of
Chicago's
financial
district
which
served
as a
headquarters
for the
WCTU.
The
building
was
designed
by
Burnham
and
Root
and was
completed
in
1893.
Following
the
1893
depression
, the
WCTU
was not
able
to
pay
off
their
mortgage
and the
building
was
acquired
by the
Field-Columbian
Museum.
