Thomas

Hunt
organized
the
Cold
Water
Army
as a
children's
temperance
organization.
Hunt
felt
that
it
was
important
to
educate
children
about
the
dangers
of
alcohol
before
they had been
exposed
to
it.
The
phrase
stamped
on the
medal
is
a
quote
from the
Samuel
Woodworth
poem
,
"The
Old
Oaken
Bucket."
