NotesThe medal hanging from the ribbon is in the form of a Greek cross. The top arm is stamped with an image of a crown. The other arms are stamped with the words: Watch. And Be. Sober. The center of the cross is stamped with "RATA" for Royal Army Temperance Association.

"Watch and be sober" (1 Thessalonians. 5:6) was a motto commonly found on temperance medals.
