Washington Temperance Benevolent Society medal (reverse)
TitleWashington Temperance Benevolent Society medal (reverse)
Publication Daten.d.
NotesThe reverse of the medal is stamped with an image of a fountain. This is a familiar image on such medals and typically symbolizes temperance as a fountain of health.

The Washington Temperance Benevolent Society struck three different medals during the 1840's. All had an image of Washington stamped on the front but each had a different image or motto stamped on the back (Source: Coin and Currency Collections in the Department of Special Collections University of Notre Dame Libraries website).
