NotesQuote from document: Willie Williams is a Black G.I. from Seattle. He is imprisoned in the Ft. Lewis stockade for exercising his right of free speech. Willie has been in the stockade for five months and he hasn't been convicted of a crime.

Historical background: On June 29, 1970 Private Willie Williams, an Afro-American GI at Fort Lewis, was court-martialed for presenting an antiwar statement and poster to his commanding officer, and sentenced despite a June 19 rally at the Shelter Half coffeehouse in Tacoma in his support.
