| Notes | Quote from document: You have in your hand the first issue of a fortnightly newspaper. It is dedicated to no cause, no interests, no point of view; it is dedicated to you. Helix is published at 4526 Roosevelt Way Northeast in Seattle by a group of volunteer workers. Although in the University District, Helix is a community newspaper in the human sense and expects to be a free printed forum in the Pacific Northwest. "Underground" papers are appearing everywhere and Helix will be a member of the Underground Press Syndicate.... It will be a free newspaper of Seattle and the Northwest and will answer to their needs. Helix will cover arts, politics, all kinds of unnamable scenes opening up in this last third of the Century. It will establish new pictorial values in print."
Background information: The Helix, Seattle's underground rag, was published between 1967 and 1970. It was printed by Ken Munson then communications director for Lodge 751 of the International Aassociation of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. |
