NotesAlternative title: Do You Believe that Faculty and Students Should Control University Departments?... Do You Believe that the University Should Be Committed to Free and Open Inquiry?... Is the University Politically Neutral?... Is Military Science Really Taught at the University?... The University Must be held Responsible for its Actions!

Quote from document: "... ROTC has been involved in spying on campus groups and individual faculty members (see Dr. Conze's charges in Wednesday's Daily). Is amateur espionage and closed classes compatible with open inquiry?"

Background information: As reported in the UW Daily, Dr. Edward Conze, expert on Buddhism, professor of Indic Studies at the UW, and outspoken opponent of U.S. involvement in Vietnam, "charged that ROTC students have monitored his classroom and following the forwarding of the information to Washington a Military Intelligence officer visited Conze and demanded to see Conze's files."
