Background information: Black Panthers Fred Hampton and Mark Clark were killed in a police raid on Panther headquarters, December 4, 1969.

Background information: The Conspiracy 8 (or "Chicago 8") included Jerry Rubin, Abbie Hoffman, David Dellinger, Rennie Davis, Tom Hayden, John Froines, Lee Weiner, and Bobby Seale. They stood trial on charges of crossing state lines with the intent to incite violence at the 1968 Democratic National Convention.

Background information: The Day After demonstration occurred in Seattle on February 17, 1970. About 2, 000 people led by the Seattle Liberation Front assaulted the Federal Court House with "tear gas, smoke bombs, rocks, and paint." (Crowley, Walt. Rites of Passage: A Memoir of the Sixties in Seattle. Seattle: University of Washington Press. p. 281)
