PhotographerSoule, John P.
Date1894
NotesCaption to left of photo: On this page and the next is a view of Seattle in 1894, covering all the burned district of 1889. It was taken from First Avenue and Pike street. The Armory, Central School, Coppin watertower, Courthouse, Methodist Church, University building and Providence Hospital plainly show. The "skyscraper" near the center is the six-story Burke building. The A.A. Denny home is also near the center, bounded by First and Second Avenues, University and Union streets. Second Avenue then as a business thorofare was not nearly equal to First. This picture was taken by John P. Soule. Caption on image: 107 Seattle from "The Ripley"
