Evans, Daniel J. (1925- ): Born in Seattle, October 16, 1925. He graduated, University of Washington, Seattle, 1948, and received a graduate degree from that university in 1949. Served in the United States Navy 1943-1946 and 1951-1953. Worked as a civil engineer and contractor. He was a member of the Washington State house of representatives 1956-1965; Governor of Washington State 1965-1977; president, Evergreen State College, Olympia, Washington 1977-1983. He was appointed in 1983 to the United States Senate to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Henry M. Jackson and served from September 8, 1983 to January 3, 1989. He is affiliated with a Seattle law firm as a national and international affairs consultant and is a resident of Seattle.
