| Contextual Notes | Joseph Drumheller was born in Spokane, Washington on September 25, 1900. He graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1923 and founded Drumheller Analytical Laboratories in 1924. Drumheller served as a Democratic state senator representing the 7th District in Spokane County from 1935-1942. He also served on the University Of Washington Board Of Regents in many different capacities from 1945-1962. Drumheller Fountain, in the center of Frosh Pond on University of Washington campus, was also a gift from Drumheller in honor of the University's centennial celebration. Drumheller died on April 18, 1970 in Spokane. |
