| Contextual Notes | Arthur B. Langlie (1900-1966) was elected Mayor of Seattle in 1938 and reelected to that office in 1940. In 1941, he resigned to become Governor of Washington. Langlie lost a reelection bid for Governor in 1944, but returned to that office in 1949 and was reelected in 1952, leaving office in 1956.
