| Title | Mark Litchman letter to Emmanuel Slater regarding the Seattle Workers' College and lectures to labor organizations, October 28, 1920 |
| Author | Litchman, Mark M., 1887-1960 |
| Date of Publication | 1920 |
| Notes | In this letter from Mark Litchman to Emmanuel Slater, which was written on October 28, 1920, Litchman updates Slater on news regarding political and labor-related events in the Seattle area. After commenting on recent correspondence with Slater, Litchman describes recent lecture series offered by the Workers' College in Seattle -- he is particularly interested in a series offered by "De Man", but he alludes also to lectures on "Marxian Economics", and a series on evolution by University of Washington professor Trevor Kincaid. He then describes his own lecturing work, in particular a lecture on "the Repeal of the Criminal Syndacalist [sic] Law" which he co-taught with Kate Sadler Greenhalgh. Litchman comments briefly on the rise of the Farmer Labor Party, the possibly impending ascent of Communism, and political trends in Europe that seem promising to him. He closes by noting that he may give another lecture at the Workers' College, and by updating Slater on the whereabouts and activities of several mutual acquaintances. |
