TitleShipyard Laborers, Riggers and Fasteners of the Pacific Local 38-A letter to Tacoma Central Labor Council regarding their delegates to the Council, November 11, 1919
AuthorInternational Longshoremen's Association. Local 38-A (Tacoma, Wash.)
Date of Publication1919
NotesThis letter from Local 38-A of the International Longshoremen's Association (the Shipyard Laborers, Riggers and Fasteners of the Pacific) to the Central Labor Council of Tacoma and Vicinity, sent on November 11, 1919, informs the Council of the local's decisions concerning their elected delegates to the Council. The local's delegates had offered their resignations, in order that the local could elect delegates who represented them more accurately. But it had been the local's feeling that the allegations against the delegates came from those outside the union, and not from the union's membership. As a result, the local voted unanimously to reject the resignation offer, and to inform the Central Labor Council that the local's delegates "always had represented this Local Union to its complete satisfaction, and when they dont [sic] we are fully able to judge of their fitness to the position with-out any out side [sic] advice. There-fore The Central Labor Council will have to put up with them."
