NotesThis document is an official proclamation by Ben Hanson, then Mayor of Tacoma, announcing that the week of September 4-10, 1961, would be known in the city as "Union Label Week". The proclamation acknowledges the important contributions of "the trade union movement", and notes the familiar emblems of "the Union Label, the Shop Card and the Service Button". Mayor Hanson also calls attention to the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations, both of whom called for the observance of "Union Label Week". The document is signed by Hanson and bears the seal of the city of Tacoma.
