The Front Street Cable Railway was completed in 1889 with cars running from Yesler Way (via Front Street (1st Ave.)) to the power house and car barns at Denny Way. In 1890 the same group of entrepreneurs who had organized the Front Street Cable Railway incorporated the North Seattle Cable Railway Company a year and a half later as a subsidiary concern to extend service from Denny Way to the top of Queen Hill along Queen Anne Ave. (known as Temperance Street). Fare was fixed at 5 cents and the cars were not move over 10 miles an hour. The fine for exceeding this speed limit was set at 100 dollars for every violation.
