| Contextual Notes | The Seattle Hardware Company was first headquartered in the Pioneer Square district of Seattle in 1883. After the building burned down in the Great Fire of June 6, 1889, the company leased a new location from the Seattle Street Railway Company on the corner of Pike Street and Second Avenue for one year. In 1890, the company moved back to the Pioneer Square neighborhood into the Colman Building on First Avenue and Marion Street. The Seattle Hardware Company remained there till 1905, when they moved to a seven-story building on the corner of First Avenue and South King Street. |
