| Contextual Notes | Circle is located on the left bank of the Yukon River, 130 miles northeast of Fairbanks. It was a mining supply town established in 1887 when L.N. McQuesten located a trading post there. It was so named because the village was thought to be on the Arctic circle. The population was 41 in 1967.
