| Historical Notes | One of many caricatures about Napoleon's banishment to Elba and the restoration of the monarchy, this drawing shows Napoleon as a performing dog being directed by a very large Royalist holding a whip and a hoop. Napoleon is shown on his hind legs, obediently preparing to jump. Behind him are the buildings at Fontainebleau, and on the other side of the hoop is the island of Elba.
