TitleElk returning to Mount St. Helens devastation area
PhotographerZoller, William
PublisherUniversity of Washington. Dept. of Chemistry
Date of photograph1982
NotesAerial view showing some elk that have returned to the ash covered areas. There is not much vegetation for them. Because green plants are starting to grow on the hills, the elk were starting to move back into the area. But again, there is not a lot of food; they were laying down in the open on these ash flows. Most of the trees right in the foreground don't look like they are in very good shape.
Subjects (LCSH)Elk
Debris avalanches
Volcanic ash, tuff, etc.
