NotesSlide shows high temperature vents in the foreground. We didn't realize that they were high temperature vents at first because you don't see anything coming out, but we did notice white deposits on the sides. This should have been our first indication. This is why I always take a geologist with me now, who will warn me about these. I was going to head down to the steam at the other end and I stepped over that white area in the foreground and got very high temperature, six to seven hundred degrees Celsius, volcanic gases up my pants leg causing third degree burns. So, these places are not safe to walk unless you know what you are doing.
