Notes
Slide
shows
high
temperature
vents
in the
foreground.
We
didn't
realize
that they were
high
temperature
vents
at
first
because
you
don't
see
anything
coming
out
, but
we
did
notice
white
deposits
on the
sides.
This should have been
our
first
indication.
This
is
why
I
always
take
a
geologist
with
me
now
,
who
will
warn
me
about
these.
I
was
going
to
head
down
to the
steam
at the
other
end
and
I
stepped
over
that
white
area
in the
foreground
and
got
very
high
temperature
,
six
to
seven
hundred
degrees
Celsius
,
volcanic
gases
up
my
pants
leg
causing
third
degree
burns.
So
, these
places
are not
safe
to
walk
unless
you
know
what
you
are
doing.
