NotesA closer view of some Douglas Fir trees that were knocked down by the eruption. This picture was taken from the helicopter to give an estimate of the size of the diameter of the trees. The long tree to the slightly left of the picture was about four to five feet across by those root balls; the widths of the other trees was approximately three to four feet. Researcher Bill Zoller was supposed to be in the picture to help gauge the size but slipped and fell to the ground and was underneath the trees somewhere in photo.
