Depicts Depicts West Africa stretching from Cape Blanco and Senegal to Guinea Inferior and inland to Ghana Lake. Divides this area of Africa into four major parts: Zarae vol Deserti Barbariae, Aethiopia, Guinea, and Aethiopiae Superioris and depicts the countries of Guinea, Senegal, the Ivory Coast, Liberia, Ghana, Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali, Mauritania, and Niger. Contains notes on geography throughout. In the lower left corner is a detailed illustration of a West African village showing the inhabitants carrying out their daily activities. |
| Contextual Notes | Johann Matthias Hase (1684-1742) was a math professor at Wittenberg. He worked for Homann Heirs. His best-known works include "Africa" (1737), "Guinea" (1743), "Grund Staedten" (1745) and "Atlas HIstoricus" (1750).
