NotesSeated in front of a large tree trunk, this Puget Sound Indian man holds a pipe in his mouth and looks steadily at the camera. The subject has been identified as Dr. Jack, a Duwamish Indian who lived on the Cedar River, but this information could not be confirmed. The photo was taken by the Puyallup firm of Mitchell & Smith; a later print of the same image was included in a collection of Yakima area photographs assembled by the Dam Brothers.
