TitleTulalip Indian School grounds, ca. 1912
PhotographerBrady, Ferd (Ferdinand)
Studio LocationUnited States--Washington (State)--Everett
Dateca. 1912
NotesThe Tulalip Indian School was situated on reservation land along the shores of Tulalip Bay. After a fire destroyed the older St. Anne's Catholic Mission School, which had been at this site since 1861, the federal government funded construction of the buildings shown in this photograph. During the early years of the school nearly all transportation was by water. A steamer arrived at the dock on a regular schedule carrying mail and visitors. Remnants of the double rows of trees still survive today, but all of the buildings shown here are gone.

Photographer Ferd Brady had a studio in Marysville, Washington from 1907 to 1910, then moved to Everett, and finally settled in Anacortes in the 1920s. In the 1910s, he had a government contract to photograph the people and activities at the Tulalip Indian School, near Marysville. Brady closed his Everett studio in 1952 and died in 1967.
