| Notes | Baseball, which somewhat resembles the traditional stick ball game, was the most popular sport among Indian athletes. In earlier years, players fashioned their own handmade bats and sometimes played barehanded. On the team pictured here are William Shelton, an employee of the school and renowned artist, holding pennant; Clemont Bob, second from left in back row; Robert Shelton (William's son), third from right; Roy Loughrey, second from right; Joseph Joe, far right; and Augustus Day, seated on right.
Photographer Ferd Brady had a studio in Marysville, Washington from 1907 to 1910, then moved to Everett, and finally settled in Anacortes in the 1920s. In the 1910s, he had a government contract to photograph the people and activities at the Tulalip Indian School, near Marysville. Brady closed his Everett studio in 1952 and died in 1967.
