| Notes | Survivor of the Puget Sound Indian War, Yelm Jim [Wa-he-lut or Wahoolit] poses for portrait, ca. 1880-1900. Seated in wooden chair, on fur skin, in front of a hung blanket; there is a skull set on the table beside him, he holds a rifle and wears a pouch around neck over shirt, patched pants and moccasins.
Caption in album: "Wahoolit", or "Yelm Jim" a Nisqually Indian. He fought with Leschi in 1855-56. He killed Sluggia, Leschi's betrayer [and nephew]. Sentenced to be hung, he was pardoned on the day set for execution
