His Indian name translates to "Walk-on-striped-face", per Robert Sherwood & Vi Seymour, 1/98. Photographer possibly Clair Hunt, who has been attributed photographer in other Chief Lot photographs. Note from unidentified source: Lot (Whistle-Possum), Chief of the Lower Spokanes until his death in 1902.
