Note from unidentified source: A whaler's rattle, very old, made of the jelly-bone of a whale, the rattle was employed by Makah whalers to turn a harpooned whale towards the shore should it run outward with the whaling canoe. A song was sung by the whalers in conjuction with the rattling. Property of Charles Swan, Neah Bay Indian.
